5 TIPS FOR CHOOSING THE SIZE THAT BEST SUITS YOUR WALL
Are you unsure about which painting to choose? - Then read this blog post and get help finding the right format with these 5 simple tips.
1. FIND THE WORK FOR THE SMALL SPACE
When decorating with art in a small room or hallway, two or more small paintings, perhaps 30X30 - 60X60 cm, work really well. The paintings can be hung next to each other or above each other, depending on whether the wall is tall or wide.
2. THE GREAT WALL
If you have a large bare wall in the kitchen, living room or perhaps your hall, it is obvious to decorate the room with a large work of art. A work of art, a giant painting measuring from 120X120-150X200 cm, needs air and space.
If there is space in front of the wall, it will look fantastic with a huge piece of art.
On the other hand, if you have a dining table in front of the wall, it will give the best look if the entire artwork is visible and therefore does not hang too far down on the wall where it will be hidden by the table.
Therefore, it may be an option to choose a smaller and possibly square painting or a large, elongated painting.
3. THE SPACE ABOVE THE SOFA
Above the sofa, a rectangular format of 100x120 or a more elongated and narrow painting of 100X160 cm is suitable if there is a standard ceiling height of approximately 230 cm.
If you have high ceilings and a large, wide sofa, you can easily go for a larger work of 120x150 cm or 120x170 cm.
It creates the best balance if the painting is oblong when it is to hang above the sofa - or two works next to each other.
If you prefer works in portrait format, it is recommended to hang the painting next to the sofa or above the part where you may have a chaise longue and therefore do not have to take into account a high backrest.
4. THE HIGH NARROW WALL
In a staircase with high ceilings, an elongated portrait painting is very suitable, or two medium-sized paintings on top of each other. Here it would also be nice to decorate with several paintings in glass frames.
5. END WALL OR ABOVE THE SHELF
In a room or at an end wall, a larger square painting 80x80 - 100x100 cm is very suitable. - Or a portrait painting of 120x80 cm.
